is a ministry that encompasses the other ministry
areas of PMUMC. Our mission statement reads,
"Inviting People to Know Christ." We are continually seeking
new ways to plant the seeds of life in Jesus Christ into the hearts of
the unsaved and un-churched.
United Methodist Women is a supportive community of women growing together spiritually as they minister to the needs of Peralta Methodist and the mission work of the United Methodist Church. UMW offers a Day Circle that meets once a month and a Night Circle which meets quarterly. Both groups are involved in study, prayer, program and service. The Crafty Ladies is also a group of servant women who, as a part of the UMW, create Christmas and other items which are sold at an annual bazaar at the church. The proceeds support other church ministries. Crafty Ladies meet every month on the first Tuesday and Wednesday from 9:00 to 3:00.The Men's Ministry is a servant group that prays, studies and plans actions of service within the church and the community. Meeting time is every Monday at 6:30 pm.Prayer Warriors and Prayer Partners intercede to God for individuals, families, our communities and nation. Currently these two groups meet together, telephone and/or e-mail regularly. The Youth Program (or U.M.Y.F. which means United Methodist Youth Fellowship) meets every Sunday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 pm for Bible study, discussion, fellowship, games, and movies. Children's Church focuses on Bible based lessons. Our prayer is to enhance their love and understanding of Jesus and his teachings, the church, and their valued role. Through careful planning we desire to make learning, sharing, and worship a meaningful experience for all children. Vacation Bible School is offered during the summer for one week. Children ages 4 years through 6th grade enjoy music, crafts, snacks and bible lessons. Adult Education provides several classes on Sundays at 9:45 am. The Worship Ministry is responsible for ushers and greeters who welcome each person into worship with the unique warmness for which PMUMC is known. This ministry also is responsible for the coordination of the worship services on Sunday mornings. It is the goal of this ministry for Christ to be recognized through hymns and songs, prayer, Scripture, and the sermon. We love to have special music and special events that stir our hearts toward fuller devotion to God.Congregational Care Group ministry is designed to have members and attendees of the church nurtured by care group leaders who call and pray for his or her group members. Care and love are central elements of Christ's message to us and we seek to have everyone know they are loved.Missions or Outreach is the ministry which seeks to bring Christ's love and light to the needy, the hungry, and the cold. Local as well as global concerns are important to the members who want others to be cared for in His name. It may be listed last here but giving to others is meant to be our primary work such that others would know and come to Him for eternal life.Small groups ministry provides nurture and education to new Christians and to all those seeking to know how Christ may influences their lives. Ministries that meet in the church from the community are Cub Scouts, AA, and Weight Watchers. Peralta Memorial UMC happily sponsors Little League and YAFL teams, too. Other groups that often use the church facilities for special events are the Boy Scouts and Namaste (for special needs children). Does all this sound like a lot? PMUMC is a busy place. It is a vital, active church that seeks to do more for the community so that Jesus will be known by all. If you have never visited PMUMC, please come join us, worship, and be greeted and included as part of the family of Christ. |
